Garry is lifelong resident of the Illinois Valley, Garry has been an independent business owner for more than 25 years. He also serves as a city alderman in LaSalle, having first been elected in 1997.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Garry has a bachelor's degree in finance. He enjoys golf and running. He is also an IHSA recognized basketball official. Garry is married to Barb for 27 years and they have two daughters, Jenny and Ali. Barb is employed by State Farm Insurance as a claim representative.
